Tutorial: Find and Replace

This tutorial will give you the ability to find and replace text in either Design view or Code view.

  1. Go to the menu bar on top of the screen and click on Edit. Then click on Find and Replace…
    There is also a short cut you can use: Click Ctrl and hold and click the letter F.

  2. The Find and Replace dialog box window appears.

  3. In the Find in: pop-up menu, make sure that the Current Document option is selected.

  4. Next is the Search: pop-up menu, that the Text option is selected.

  5. In the Find: field, type in the word that you are looking for. For example, type in the word "red" so we can later replace it with the word "blue".

  6. In the Replace: field, type in the word that you are going to use to replace the other word in the Find: field. For example, type in the word "blue" that will replace the word "red".

  7. Below the Replace: field is the Search Options. You can check any of the following to help with your search:

  1. On the top right side of the Find and Replace window is the Find Next button.
    This button will let you review each word from the Find: field before any changes are made.

  2. When you click the Find All button…

  3. A Search window will appear at the bottom of the screen right under the Properties window. The Search window
    will list all the matched text to the word in the Find: field. On the list, double click any of the listed words and that
    word in the document will be highlighted so only that word can be replaced.

  4. The Replace button will let you replace one word a time.

  5. The Replace All button will let you replace all the words at one time.

  6. The Close button let you close the window. This option may cancel your request if no search has been done yet.

  7. The Help button opens the browser to Adobe’s support page for additional support on your search.

  8. The Save Query button, saves the search query.

  10. The Load Query button, loads the query from the last time that it was used.
